I used to have it occasionally before I knew what it was. Once I learned about it, it mostly stopped. I've had it once or twice since then, but the last time was maybe about 15 years ago.
Before I treated my sleep apnea Id see giant spiders as big as my room

yes but never felt a weight on my chest. just not being able to move my body for a bit. i've probably had it like at least a dozen times. scared the shit out of me the first time. then i started having nightmares that i have sleep paralysis and then i get to the point where i'm not sure if it's real or a dream since i usually fall back asleep after.

remember one time i had it like 3 times in a row sleeping on my couch. i'd wake up with it and was like meh i'll just go back to sleep. then woke up and still had it. after the 3rd time i made myself stay up. so when i get it now i at least get up and go to the bathroom or get a drink of water before i go back to sleep and haven't gotten it a 2nd time that same night.
This is a sig
my brain wakes up but my body hasnt yet. Happens once in a while it sucks. Im able to kick with one leg while its happening for some reason. I can hear my wife yelling my name but its the only way to wake myself up.
Yes but I never saw anything. It happened to me all the time on road trips as a kid

Politicians are the weeds of the galaxy.
I've had it a few times, and gone through a lot of the more common experiences with it, along with some cool and crazy stuff.

My weirdest time was when I was a kid my parents wouldn't let me sleep in their bed, so I went to go sleep in my nona's room. In the middle of the night I thought I saw an extremely clich 90's alien who just stared at me and occasionally asked me questions. As a kid I had assumed that was what alien probing was and that he was looking through my mind.

At some point I figured out that it was one of the more rare cases of sleep paralysis where you basically dream with your eyes open, and it was just my dad coming to check up on me in the middle of the night.

I do drawings and stuff

No, and I'm glad I haven't. Sounds absolutely awful.
Many Bothans died to bring you this post.

Probably, Ive had shadow children clawing at me before being able to feel stuff like youre dreaming sucks. Finally able to move and Im trying to knock non-existent gremlins away from my bed.

Happened in the months leading up to a joint replacement when I was sleeping like 3 hours a night for most of a year because of the pain.

You're finally awake, welcome to the real world!
Yeah, a fair few number of times.

Also seeing that mention of sleep walking reminded me of this one time. I went to bed on the second floor, and next thing I know I'm awake on the toilet on the first floor. Apparently I had to go and my body decided to do all the proper steps on its own while asleep. I was very confused when I came around.
A couple years ago I woke up and could not move at all. Like every attempt to make my limbs move felt like I was controlling wet noodles. I started panicking because I thought I had broken my neck in my sleep or something somehow, and there was this howling noise in my ears like all my windows were open and I was in the middle of a hurricane.

Then it went away. I legitimately dunno if it was sleep paralysis or not but I could suddenly control myself again and move fine, and the noise was gone. Nothing like that has happened before or since so Im hoping that was all it was
I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth
Yeah quite a bit when I was younger. doesn't seem to happen much at all now

That's exactly what sleep paralysis is! Visual and auditory hallucinations can definitely happen

Sometimes I get it. I knew pretty early what sleep paralysis was from reading about it so I don't feel fear or anything.

I see it as a personal challenge to see how fast I can regain control of my body.

Yeah, that was it. Scary shit.
Only like twice and it wasn't very long so by the time i started to panic it was over.

My wife gets it like once a month though. I can hear her panic breathing and itll wake me up. If I rub her back a little it'll usually snap her out if it well enough.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
I thought I did but it was just lucid dreaming 9f being in my bed.
man hook hand hook car
Once recently actually.

I was in bed and every few seconds the curtains would blow so violently as to hit the roof because I was hallucinating a freakishly powerful storm. While the wind was blowing I couldnt move my body and felt incredibly nervous.

I always sleep with a fan on my face so that probably triggered it. Dreams can often be affected by real life factors like that.

Only a couple times in my life, though one time was somewhat recent a couple or so months ago. Never experienced a paralysis demon, though.

Could be acid reflux or apnea. I get that sometimes, gasping for air. When it's acid reflux, you should either take some Tums or drink milk to counter the acid. If it's apnea, be thankful you're still alive and consider getting a sleep study.

If it makes you feel a little better, sleep apnea is rarely fatal. Its more that it contributes to heart problems later in life.

Yes...It's like your body is still trying boot up to catch up with your mind, and it can be hard not to panic if you never went through it before.

That's a thing!? Went through that a few weeks ago too, and thought i'd die in bed, but didn't know why.

Yeah, I kind of forgot about the heart issues with apnea. I've had it almost my whole life and my SO urged me to get a sleep test back in 2020, where I learned I stopped breathing multiple times throughout the night, and I got a CPAP afterwards.

This, except it actually felt like someone had wrapped their arms around me from behind. I was sleeping on my side. Fucking terrifying. Fortunately, I didn't see anything.
walk like thunder
Yup, I always see a shadow person.
A garbage pod!? It's a smegging garbage pod!
Is it possible to have sleep paralysis with the lights on? Wonder what you'd see without obfuscating darkness.
walk like thunder
Many times throughout my life, it started in my teens and I didn't know what it was back then - it happens much less now, usually I only get it if I'm napping, I don't see shadow figures or hags, for me it's more feeling sensations like someone holding you tight, and one time I felt I was being dragged along the floor and all I could hear was a loud wooshing or something

I've been visited by succubi twice, but neither was a sleep paralysis episode.

They simply invaded my dreams.
