Lets get down to brass tax here. Not asking whether or not, you think the writers should be compensated, but whether or not the strike will work, and the writers will receive what they wish.

What do you think? How do you see this ending?
biden overruled the rail strike

what chance do writers have? its not like society at large cares about good writing. reality TV was a result of the last writer strike and to this day its still one of the most popular types of tv shows
It will end somewhere in between. Same as the actor's strike.

well i sure hope so! a lot of shows and movies have already been delayed due to this strike!

like sure, they should be properly compensated and whatnot but i need my shows and movies dammit! lol
They're obviously not going to get everything they're demanding, but that's kind of the point. I expect that Studios will eventually cave and ban AI tools in the current contract but absolutely refuse to ban them forever. The biggest win will probably come from some sort of incremental increase in residuals for streaming.

If you told me that Hollywood writers were replaced by AI writing the scripts 5 years ago, my only shock would be that the AI had been around that long. Followed by, "it all makes sense now."
whats the success rate of strikes?

whats the success rate of strikes?

Hollywood doesn't strike very often but when they do they usually get most of what they want.

see that seems like if they got that that would be a huge win. Id think the higher ups would fight back the most on that piece.
