Being paid for by taxpayers doesn't magically make people want to be cops

The police dont prevent crime the best they can do is stop it in the act or catch the person afterwards. I feel like yall want all crime to stop or people arent doing their jobs.

Having an officer stop by because of a call to make sure everything is alright is the bare min. This isn't about cops being able to prevent all crimes. This about them doing the bare min for their job.

But realistically if a location is too remote for fast response time the. The bare minimum means nothing.

Are you saying the police couldn't have prevented *this* crime or that police aren't designed to prevent crime in general?
Deported four times since 2009 eh? Sounds like we should have better border security to keep deplorable guys like him out of the country. Maybe even a proper wall.....

I feel so bad for the family, especially the father who has to live with the aftermath and raise two kids on his own.
I dream broken dreams
I make them come true

the problem is manpower, not the wall/fence. immigrants know how to use ladders too

Or to dig tunnels. Some even fly in on planes

This dude obviously had a problem with the family and wanted to murder them. You literally cant prevent that.
It's too bad there is literally no way to limit access to firearms

If we are going to start targeting demographics do you know which one shoots the most people?

It's time to talk about white men then apparently
It's all true.
and drug dealers dont even have to climb the wall anymore, they can just fly a drone over

Both

Ehh... then why do many police departments have programs advertised to prevent crime? Community involvement, warning signs of police response, squad cars parked on roads to discourage speeding etc

My comment wasn't about blame for guns, it was to point out the flaws of a wall. I'm pro immigration

Political theater

Ahh.. so even in instances where it's effective - they aren't actually preventing crime? o.0

Right...Camden NJ, pictures like this all over google and youtube titles like
"Camden, New Jersey Might Be The Worst Place in the Country Right Now."
That's not because they reformed their police department, it's because they're in New Jersey

I told my wife: Get inside. This man has loaded his weapon,' Garcia said. My wife told me to go inside because he wont fire at me, Im a woman.
Garcias wife, Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25, was the first person shot.
That's just terrible. I feel so bad for this man. The amount of survivor's guilt he probably feels right now... Like, those are the last words he heard from his wife after trying to convince her it wasn't safe.

And I don't understand the discussion of police reform in response to this specific tragedy. It would definitely help reduce the amount of people that are unjustly killed by police, but replacing armed officers with unarmed responders would not have helped stop this psychopath.

Because the police did nothing despite getting called 5 times. Unless you think it's acceptable for a service funded by taxpayers to do absolutely nothing in situations that absolutely call for them to be there.

the Uvalde kids and this shooting's victims had something in common.

And if you think about it, this shooting's victims was met with "dey were illigulz, lol" (turns out, they weren't) by the state's governor.

Texas considers certain people 2nd class citizens.
So post. Much gamefaqs. Wow.
Sounds to me like it was the 911 dispatcher at fault here not the actual cops since there were none available. If the comments they made on the phone were real that was disgusting.

You can't blame cops that don't exist. Hardly any cops in a massive area.

The main issue here is having only 3 cops on your force for an entire city...
