Yeah Advanced/Hazard stuff is hard, but they actually don't one shot you all the time. There are clearly moves that are geared towards folding you into a pan seared sandwich that kill you through guard 5 guard up 3, but the simple dashes and slashes only take off like 50-70% of your HP. Imo once you learn the tell for the super moves, most of these monsters aren't that big of a deal. If you can't figure out wtf you're supposed to do vs a big move, just Farcaster out lul

I only just realized there are new max armor levels. Silly me. Here I am doing investigations only two title updates' worth of defense increases ahead of the quest level when I could be doing them three defense increases ahead.

Also please tell me that searching for SOS requests by the afflicted materials wasn't always a feature. If I've just been ignoring it all this time, I swear to gog...

I recently hopped back on MHR and didn't realize I stopped playing pretty early on. I'm normal rank like 60. My fiance is 110 now I think. We recently played with someone that was MR and normal rank 999 and I thought they hacked but I checked their profile and they had like 1500 hours into the game. Fucking nuts.

Im pretty sure I saw that in the patch notes for TU5. Amazing QOL feature
Currently Playing: Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection Volume 1
It really is a nice feature. If you need a certain material but lack a quest for it, you don't have to look up what drops it or in what range of levels. Just punch in what you need and it'll search all of the options for you. I love not having to look shit up all the time.

Folks, while you can, get Afflicted Thickhide as much as you can

You'll thank me later (unless they added it to the Afflicted trade menu)

Yeah because of Afflicted Talisman, there's no need to go for any particular skill on Afflicted crafting anymore. Basically, you just kinda go for skill efficiency, like the slot 2 exclusive skills or the slot upgrades

Any 2 slot worth is good now, losing def/res for one more slot is optimal. Previously, you basically had to go for the Qurio crafting exclusive skills like Furious or Mail of Hellfire. Now they're better to get on Afflicted Talisman cuz they'll often come out like lvl 3 on that skill.

I'm playing BB/WS style GL right now and I need Wind Mantle and a lvl 3 Sneak Attack Talisman

CB is definitely not a good match up. I've used both GL and CB against him and CB's sword mode has trouble consistently hitting him for one thing. For another, elemental wise, only his head and forearms are vulnerable, and rest are pretty immune to most elements

Tried out my Surge Slash Combo GS set with Violet Mizu's GS and shaved half my time off the hunt~
But you can call me Erika~

Shaved a couple minutes off of that too, satisfied~https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/0/7/5/AARTUoAAEaAD.jpg

I took on a risen shagaru magala and as expected, I hated it. The magalas in Sunbreak are too flippin big and their wings cover the whole goddamn screen any time you're close enough to hit them. And if you aren't close enough to hit them, they'll still surprise attack you from offscreen with the giant arc of their wingarms. Add in the hyperactive movement and new remote frenzy attacks of the risen form and this just don't work for me. Also I forgot where to find the actual quest the first time, so I went through an investigation which opted not to reward a risegem. >_<

I've never felt like I've been kept at a distance as much as I did with Risen Shagaru. Basically if I allow myself to get in a position where I'm not in melee range I have to do a five minute dance of explosion dodging to get back.

Must be a gunner's wet dream of a fight.

Though obviously it will become easier on repeated fights when I start sucking slightly less.
Risen Shaggy hasn't been too bad with Evade Extender 2/3, been able to stick to his face while yeeting over to his tail whenever he starts going off
But you can call me Erika~
Shaggy is no Risen CGV, still the best fight maybe now topped by Amatsu if not for Amatsu's poor stats. However, I think he's fairer than he seems.

His attacks don't let up and feel bullshit, but you gotta realize something crucial about Shaggy.

ALL of his attacks attack forwards. His backside is so vulnerable. You're almost always safe attacking his tail for instance. If you're on a mobile weapon, he's a bit of a pushover.

Maybe it's my fault for using hammer then. Trying to stay up near his face (usually in front of it to avoid hitting the arms) where it focuses all its attacks and also covers the whole fucking screen with its stupid cape wings.

Oh well, maybe I'll try a different weapon on it some time when I feel like maxing out its qurios augments and build. I just finally managed to augment my hammer a few more steps tonight, so I don't wanna deal with that all now lol.

You do have to attack the front eventually though if you want to recover from Frenzy. And you're obviously a bit limited in how much time you have to actually whack the tail and back legs since he'll turn around pretty quickly. And being under him you can still get hit easily by his charge attacks and some close range frenzy blasts.

It's pretty hard to keep up with I'd say. I think it and Risen Valstrax are going to end up being the hardest monsters in the game. Which one is the hardest will probably vary per person. We'll see how the Malzeno variant compares in a few months.

So does the new melding system mean we are once again in another situation where the game is telling you you can't properly advance if you do anything other than anomaly quests and engaging in that most tedious of grinds?

I mean the new meld is grossly OP for anything but very high level investigations and the most beefed up events...
I post clips of my cool, stupid and glitchy MH Sunbreak and Wild Hearts hunts here just for fun.

Cut weapons have pretty good hit zones on the tail and hindleg. If you're already cutting it close with Frenzy attacking the head, then there might be other problems like armor skills that you could shove a few more offensive ones for. Especially cuz it's not like Frenzy is calculated by a portion of your DPS. As long as you do a fixed amount of dmg, you're good I think? I might be wrong there

I can't believe the final major title update came and went and we still can't turn off hammer sliding. 98% of the time it happens is unintentional and when I actually want to slide for once, I can't. Like the smallest imperceptible incline will send you zipping past your target, but certain steeper hills arbitrarily won't. >:[

Yes I fucking hate that they kept sliding at all in this game. It also just messes up some weapons way more than others

Are there other weapons that slide while unsheathed? I thought the rest of the weapons only did slide attacks in World and only while sheathed.

There are definitely more than the hammer. I don't think GL slides though

Can confirm, lvl 280 investigation and on uses some Hazard version of the monsters. They've got a different logo

Meanwhile I went back to 130~200 for some materials. I fucking failed 5 hunts in a row... I fainted once during all that time but wtf are the ppl in these ranks doing?

I use hammer on him, I find that with keeping sway it's pretty easy to dance around him, I use evade extender 2 and evade window 2, with that you are able to get out of the way or i-frame through most attacks comfortably.

I definitely agree about hammer sliding though, it's terrible and makes some areas (citadel is so bad) awful to fight in because you slide when you really don't want to.

The faster leveling at lower anomaly ranks means there are more scrubs getting carried faster than before.

Aw man. I passed level 200 and now I only get triple research points instead of quadruple. It's still enough to earn a level or two per quest, but still. Once I pass the bonus points entirely imma be real sad. Finishing a quest at your current level and not even getting one level up feels bad.

8x rank mod feels so fucking good. It's like flushing a toilet after a war if you know what I mean. Not to mention the journey is ass now and it's more about the reward at the end of the tunnel. Imagine if you can skip to the last 2-3 fights in a Deviant in GU

Holy boly...

I reached lvl 300 and did the things. I'll detail how the special investigation sequence works:

  1. reach lvl 300
  2. obtain a lvl 300 quest one way or another (plenty of ppl here in global queue)
  3. host the lvl 300 quest
  4. a new menu appears to do the Special Investigation
  5. can random multi
I'm a fucking idiot and had the follower option on. I actually thought that they force you to solo the monster first b4 obtaining the SI. Nope, you can multi it as long as you host

Either way, I'm a proud solo-er of a SI ... Khezu. Yes, my first one was a Khezu. It means nothing. Do not read into it

To detail the Khezu in SI... So I solo'd lvl 300 Khezu in 10 min with over 100 DPS on my Bullet Barrage GL build. It was almost too easy.

Then I did the SI Khezu. I immediately failed my first try. I double carted almost immediately as Khezu's triple spread electric thing on the ground does more than half my HP THROUGH GUARD. All of his attacks however were pretty easily blockable with Embolden 3 Guard 2. I think that's a sweet spot for general purpose? Unless Risens tear straight through guards in SI

My 2nd try that began with 2 quick carts ended up being my winning run. I stuck through it, played like a bitch, somehow still ended up with 87 DPS, and beat him in 24 minutes...

SI monsters move a small bit faster, explode way more often, 2 shot you with weaker moves, and use special moves a bit more often. Also Risens are on Hazard mode

I... just got fucking crushed by SI RCGV...

What specifically do I have to do to unlock qurious melding? Didn't really bother much with Anomaly Investigations, but came back with this update and beat Amatsu. From what I gather I have to get some specific kind of materials to unlock qurious meld, but I can't seem to find out what it is.

You know what's funny? I just realized that my build would be immensely improved by a single point of Dragon Conversion. I have like -15~20 res on like 3 different elements. While I'd lose Water res, it's only really useful for Amatsu anyways so

Getting closer to 200. But then I probably won't play the game for some time when Zelda comes out. Still, it's fun enough to get to 300 eventually. It'll just be a while.
