The promised day draws near. I'm still thinking it's gonna be a 28th release for both TU5 for the master races, and Sunbreak TU1~3 for all the peasant devices. Either way, the peasants are in for a treat, and I'm nipping at the feet to at least be elated by the trailer that will be released on the 19th. Hopefully even if this topic gets 0 replies, it'll still be alive by then. Dunno how long topics stay alive in CE nowadays

I've maybe jumped the gun on reaching lvl 220 too quickly. Honestly, them releasing huge Ice weapons via Velkhana and Dragon Conversion sped up the process far too much. People were already farming Seething and Diablo as it was, and it basically made hunts go double the speed. Global queue mod on PC made it so there's no shortage of JP/CN/KR players speed farming the shit out of these. If you want quick Investigation levels, just search for Seething or Diablo. Can't fail imo

Uhh... I guess I can start rambling about my hundreds of hours

My current TU4 caught up setups lookin like:

All non-specified usage: Normal Velkhana GL with Ground Splitter and full shell combo and AB6/Coalescence 1/the Frenzy virus skill 1. This is my comfort weapon that I can reach 100 DPS with vs Ice weak monsters, sometimes 100 on slower guys

Fire weak: Flaming Espinas CB with counter SAED suicide set with Dragon Conversion and Dereliction 3/Mail of Hellfire 2/Furious 3, which is only possible with Qurio crafting. I suck with it so I switch to GL on my last cart

Water weak: Shell CB with counter SAED using the same set but water

Farm vs Ice weak: Lunagaron HBG with Pierce Ice and Dragon Conversion, basically the same set as above. This set is great cuz you're basically limited to 3 Risen CGV armor and 2 Archfiend set, all of which will have qurio skills MoH and Furious. Furious 3, MoH 2 is better from what I've seen, vs 2/3 ratio. One tip is that you swap to blue, get hits without rest til you see a 4 colored shield looking buff, change back to red, and you'll have a massive elemental buff for the rest of the hunt. Not recommended for the squeamish as you will be one shot in Investigations. You're better off without Dereliction imo, cuz you're never seeing healing from swap. You lose the massive buff if you do. But I think it loses a good 10~50 DPS, depending on what you're killing

Weapons that I wish I updated that I used in previous SB TUs: Aerial IG, Drill to Win DB, Hammer..., Bow, Counter SA, Counter LS. Fire CB made counter LS redundant though

Weapon I plan on using on peasant mode with my brother in law (it would be my 3rd playthrough due to no crossplay): Hunting Horn? I'm not sold on it tbh. Will have to see what tunes are great. Maybe GS. Status spam LBG could be funny.

I haven't reached the max AR level for like two or three title updates now. The grind is so slow. And repetitive since you'll just keep unlocking investigations with the same eight or so monsters unless you wanna dip down to lower levels and earn fewer research points while you level up a different group of monsters. Maybe it's a me problem and I just burned myself out too soon killing time with the base game's expeditions and then base Sunbreak.

My current MR is 150+, I'm bored to tears and just don't have the will to continue playing until the update.

Not even to talisman farm. Aside from one all of them have been complete garbage. So why bother to complete content I've already completed?

There is the arena but I'm not touching that mode with a 100ft pole.

The selfish part of me does not want TU5 to release this month. I have Megaman Battle Network to play through and then Zelda in a month. And if Im honest Monster Hunter is going to be bottom of my list.

That being said. Ive been replaying Bloodborne since I first played it back in 2015 and I feel Monster Hunter has definitely vastly improved my skills. Ive killed almost all bosses (bar the DLC) in 1 or 2 attempts.

I always thought Monster Hunter was easier than Soulsborne. But Im starting to doubt that. Martyr Logarius is WAY easier than a pissed off Rajang

Definitely not you. Ive burned out 4 times now and am still only AR110. I powered through MR to unlock the Risen elders but couldnt do anymore

I only did max lvl for TU4 out of all the TUs. I think it was worth it. Right now, there are a lot of the non-max rarity monster queues in lvl 220, which ended up being pretty fun in the little I played. Had a Barroth that I fucking carted to cuz his hind leg hitbox is jank af.

And yeah the Anomaly Quest with all the Risens are all Hazard variants and have been the best hunts of the game thus far imo.

I thought Niantic sounded familiar. I don't plan on playing this but I wonder if it'll be more popular than Explore. Accel Axe in other Monster Hunters when? ;_;

This topic made me realize a global queue mod existed, so that's probably the rest of my April, bahaha

I had a dream the other night they pushed back TU5 to be 6, and the new TU5 just added Dracovish from Pokemon. Fought similarly to Raging Brachydios but with long range options, and was widely regarded as the most difficult hunt in the series. It was a hoot
But you can call me Erika~

Now I want that to be real just because of how stupid that would be. It's a waste of a pokemon representative, it's a waste of the only Nintendo representation in the game, it's crazy fucking hard for no reason. Literally everyone would hate it and that would be hilarious but also beautiful in the way it brings everyone together.

Yes, the Switch has auto global queue. On PC, you need the mod to be matched with anybody seemingly outside of your direct region. I'm not even sure if I can get matched with NA East for example, which I'm far from.

i skipped tu4 entirely so looking forward to tu5 and having a finished product

ill play it for a bit and then just go back to mhfrontier

i think my big issue with this game is all of the weapons have become so complicated to the point where most of them aren't fun anymore. the game is just trying to be frontier lite, which i'd be fine with if it'd actually double down and dedicate to taking after frontier instead of just having bits and pieces here and there
How to play Monster Hunter
Step 1: Hit the monster. Step 2: Don't get hit.
Did they change the hitboxes on Impact Crater in one of the last couple updates? For a while in Sunbreak I kept accidentally hitting sleeping monsters on the way up and wasting the sleep bonus damage, but then suddenly it got easier again. I mean, now I'm still having the problem of the monster immediately flinching and missing out on the second hit, but that part's normal lol.

Honestly this TU5 needs to kinda have everything to truly hit it out of the park. The small bits of datamine that was basically force fed to me via a bunch of shitty unmarked posts have hyped quite a bit of it, but I still think most ppl need way more out of it than it's realistically going to be.

Like people straight up thought Velkhana was gonna be a start of an entire new plot point but it was basically a side quest with like 2 dialogues of set up to things to come. I think expectations are gonna disappoint

What I want:

GL Shells need to go to lvl 9 and should copy the element of your weapon, fire for default or status. Ground Splitter buff being lost after sheathe is not as bad as it used to be tbh. Not sure if it needs more buffs than that, unless they throw speedrunners a bone with some utterly banging skill

Every non-final boss Elder Dragons having a Risen or a scaling Hazard mode (hoping the TU final boss gets included in the scaling content, same for the Sunbreak main final boss, which is getting really confusing to type out without spoilers)

AI lvls take 1/4 of the time it does atm

Raising quest lvls take far less time than it does atm so the 6* and lower mons don't get completely left in the dust

Better more lenient UI stuff for things like Talisman and Qurio Crafting

The TU final boss being way more memorable and interesting than the original incarnation (ngl I really can't remember the fella outside of being similar to Mizutsune of all things, even though the guy came first)

AI lvl max quests being absurdly difficult, like MH4U Guild lvl 140 or EX Deviant tier of needing very good lobbies to actually win. I hate how even the most difficult guys are pushovers because we took too long getting there, and we've already learned to git gud along the way

Outside of these and just more monsters in general, can't think of much more

TU6 would be cool but I think that might make TU5 feel less complete since it's being set up to be the last one. Faster it ends, the faster we can move on to other things

That's literally the first time I ever heard anybody dislike the old Japanese Theater singing monster intros. Unless you're using the english VA weird deep voice narration, then you've been missing out. It's also available in the Monster Hunter Language voice pack.

Anomaly level 300 and I've got two months to grind it I guess. TU6 is out in June so hopefully I'll have shaken off the rust from not playing much Sunbreak recently.

Didn't Amatsu used to have a unique arena? Or at least a more specialized one?

TU6 (mini-update) CONFIRMED FOR JUNE

AI lvl 300 will award players with the Special Investigations. I imagine this is basically the equivalent to the Guild lvl 140s and the EX Deviants. Seemingly for every single monster? That'd be a spoiling of us to the maximum extent. Considering they showed off Arzuros, maybe these Special Investigations are the Apex variants

But aside from that, nothing horribly unexpected. I got 1 big thing I needed

Talismen shown to have 2 slot3s as well as Furious

TU6 is Malzeno variant, some theorizing it's a frenzied version. Maybe Apex Malzeno?

Now that we know Risebreak's death date for sure, about when should we expect to be hearing about MH6?
Man, this is giving some Smash vibes from some of you in the topic lol. It's like why are you guys even here?

https://www.monsterhunter.com/rise-sunbreak/update/en-us/ver15_00_00.html

Better details into some of the changes. Grind from lvl 1~220 massively sped up supposedly, but lvl 220-300 potentially kept the same... Hopefully I get to experience the Special Investigations, but I'm probably gonna give up if it's the same pace, cuz 180 to 220 took a while

Big fan
Faster anomaly leveling? Hell yeah. Still wish there was a way to scale up low level investigations or target specific monsters, but whatevs.

I'm surprised they didn't mention MH Now at all. Obviously the presentation was about Sunbreak, but I would have expected a one sentence "Look out for the new mobile game coming soon!" thrown in for the hell of it.

Also muscle set confirmed! At last my man's slut era can begin properly!

Kind of disappointing we have to wait till June for Malzeno. And getting to 300 AR is gonna be a hell of a grind. Last I checked, I was on like 150 or something. Otherwise, it's fine.

Highly recommend looking into Fluffy mod for PC and then speeding up AI lvling by tenfolds. I'm gonna do that tomorrow, but man the new hunts are really good

Also... GL got the buff that puts them potentially competitive, but it's not entirely great. They nearly doubled the damage of Wyrmstake, making GS/BB spam Long GL the de facto best potential damage. But that entails actually running BB and Wyrmstake instead of the much nicer EC.

Amatsu fight was a baller, recommend checking out the story bit on the official twitter. The letter entailed there is actually referenced in the story, and relevant to what happens

Seems I'm pretty rusty. Both new fights ended up taking excruciatingly long to beat. Hard to hit either of them. But no quest failures I guess. Carted twice on Amatsu and once to Risen Shagaru. Beating Risen Valstrax was more satisfying I felt. Still, both new fights are pretty exciting. Good stuff.
Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi

Yeah Risen CGV is still probably the best fight, though AQ Risen Kushala is also a really good fight. But Risen CGV at AI atm is pretty crushingly difficult. Planning on Fluffy Manager 5000'ing this shit to try to get to the Special Investigations. I really want to see what those are about

According to someone on the Rise board, the only difference they've seen in Special Investigations so far is that the monsters have much more health. Pretty disappointing if that's the case.

I've been playing a bunch and Amatsu still was the longest hunt I've had in Sunbreak. It might just be Axe Hopper CB not being a good matchup with how mobile Amatsu is, that was DEFINITELY the case with Risen Shaggy
But you can call me Erika~
CB is definitely not a good match up. I've used both GL and CB against him and CB's sword mode has trouble consistently hitting him for one thing. For another, elemental wise, only his head and forearms are vulnerable, and rest are pretty immune to most elements
"Iwata was awesome" - Mr. Nintendo

Amatsu was a pain to hit, but it also didn't hit super hard. Seems like risen valstrax and violet mizutsune both hit harder. Or at least they did relative to the max armor upgrades at their respective releases.

Still haven't fought risen shagaru cuz every magala so far has been a pain in the ass in Rise and I didn't have the patience for that last night.
Hambo's alt.
It's still an MR10 boss. Basically it's geared towards people beating it a few hunts after SB final boss. I believe beating EDIT: Velkhana is the last requirement, so it's not gonna be hard stats wise

But they always release Advanced or Hazard version, and we'll see how hard this fight is with way bigger stats
"Iwata was awesome" - Mr. Nintendo
https://i.imgur.com/krtFHol.jpg
Ah true. It's just weird that it came after violet mizu and the other variants (or subspecies or whatever they're calling them, I don't give a shit about the terminology), but is less threatening. But also I've skipped every advanced event since emergency apex diablos and felt fine about it. I feel no need to fight anything that can one-shot me (or nearly so) with a defense-focused build lol.
