Should i quit my job today?

I don't have any backup plan at the moment and even taking lesser pay somewhere else sounds better than the mental fucking torture that is my work life right now.

Backstory i guess; I'm a manager at a Panera and my GM is just a giant piece of shit who I guess hates me for some reason? He has an endless list of things he thinks i screw up everyday but it's all just nitpicky bullshit that everyone else does that he won't call them out on.

It's getting to the point where I just dread coming into work cause i know it's just going to be me getting reamed out for stupid asinine shit. I'm really tempted right now to just throw my store keys in his face and leave.

Really bad time to quit since most places have a hiring freeze until mid jan
but fuck it bro
you only live once. quit
you can only decide this for yourself. general advice is "no no don't quit until you find another job"

but honestly, that could take months, and you lose time because you're working and youre stressed out.

i quit a job in a huff without another one lined up once. they were firing people left and right and lying about the reasons. then i got accused of stealing computers and under investigation and got thrown a lot of work to do that i got no support in, then blamed when it failed. my boss went up to me and asked if i had done X, and i said no because im working on a, b , and c even though my job is to do z. then he sent me an email saying i need to keep up with my tasks. so i told him i quit.

i was out of a job for 3 months. we were okay because my now wife was working, and we had credit cards to help pay for things (though it did exponentially increase our debt) but i was happier at the end of the day.

fuck that place and fuck you Francesca.

Really not sure what to do. On one hand I'd love to fuck over my boss and leave. But I'd be screwing over my employees whom I actually like. I'm actually sitting in my car right now having a cigarette. It would be so easy to just leave without a word

Also the company is giving every manager a $2000 bonus in January so I'd really like to see that through

You have the nature of insecurity. By that I mean, you often go around the truth or completely avoid it.

Give them a 2 week notice.
Do not worry about your employees. Thats the bosses job not yours. You gotta take care of yourself first. Id just call in for a few days if you have vacation or sick time to use and apply for some new jobs. Im sure if you wanted to do fast food or casual dining you could get in same day just about anywhere thats looking for management.

Struggle builds character. I'd stick it out. Especially if you don't have something else lined up.

Do whats right for you. Its your conscience.
If you have to lie to make your point, then you're just a liar who has no point.
No, make him fire you so you can collect unemployment.
Start responding to his remarks with "not my problem" or literally stop working.
You usually can't collect unemployment if you quit.

If you don't think you'll get fired no matter what, then yeah quit. Fuck that life, your mental health is important.

I'd stick it out for the 2k bonus then quit after you've secured that since at least with my level of living expenses, 2k would afford me to take an entire month off working.

Have you actually tried talking to him about this? If no, do it. If not, escalate to his boss. With the staffing shortage, you have the upper hand.

Do you need to pay bills (rent)?

If so, line up another job first. Interview around and make sure you accept the other job before you quit..

if you don't have to pay rent or any big expenses that's up to you..

Personally I would normally line up another job in most cases. Start interviewing asap.

I don't recommend that trying to get fired on purpose. Always remain on good terms with last employers when you can. Get a reference.. you never know when your need it.

You have no backup plan, which means you'll be unemployed for some time, which means you'll be a drain on society. No, it's selfish, and you shouldn't do it.

Imagine being this much of a bootlicker that you think anyone who's not employed is an automatic drain on society

Wait until you get the $2000
2k soon coming your way? I'd wait. Unless you can afford to quit now without any major financial set backs and don't really care about the 2k.

i disagree, if TC has some money saved up. if he quits, it will light a fire under his ass to apply at other jobs right away.

I summon it. You spell it.
I personally believe it looks bad that you would quit as a manager. That's what entry level workers do...or at least more often than a manager.

Your next employer might be hesitant to hire a person who clearly cannot handle the stressors of management.

It would look clean and professional of you to at least give a 2 week notice and then bounce. This should provide you a much better shot at management positions elsewhere.

I agree it may look bad on a resume

I'll be honest. If I only worked somewhere for a week, I wouldn't even bother putting it in my resume. Not sure how long TC worked at Panera though. I might be a dumbass and missed it somewhere

5 years.

And literally just got off the production floor. Half of my night crew didn't show up so it was literally me and one other person the last two hours

Yeah I don't recommend it man. But I don't know your situation and how stressful it is.

I would line up another job and leave the professional way and give a notice. Typically managers give like a month notice too, to train and finish up loose ends.
