Never was into the show as a kid, but everyone is buzzing about the new show on Netflix.

Is it pretty easy to get into for someone who isnt familiar with the original show? Or is this something you really gotta already be a fan to appreciate?
I believe it's a direct sequel series to the original show so I wouldn't think it's the best place to jump in
Maybe being a fan would ruin it you ever seen fans?

It does require a connection to the old show, even if it's very faint and you barely remember it apart from some clips, commercials, and toys.

The original doesn't have any really deep lore you need to know, or can't figure out, to enjoy this. As long as you know the basic premise, you'll be fine.
Im sure you will be fine as a new viewer.

I mean its not the most complicated story.

It isnt really drawing on the deepest of lores. It was a show built around a toy line to sell toys.

Prince Adam is He-Man, and very few people know his secret
Castle Grayskull is a coveted place of power by the bad guys
He-Man and Skeletor are on a whole other level of power than the other characters, although He-Man is the clear #1
Man-at-Arms is Teelas father

Thats about all you need to know. And the show will kinda get these points across as well.
Live action Hungry Hungry Hippos though, now that was a sport. ~Aeon Azuran

I know he's a prince, he's got a magic sword that makes him swole when he uses it, he's got some friends that also have special skills, and there's a tiger that talks

Oh and the bad guy is some skeleton guy

is that enough?
Not removing this until Mega Man 64 is released on the Wii Virtual Console. Started on: 12/1/2009

If you didn't grow up in the 80s playing with heman toys you are not allowed to watch it.

Yeah I guess that's pretty much it. Perhaps I should reword my response in that if you have the vaguest idea what He-Man is, you should be fine.

If you didn't have a castle greyskulk playset as a kid, don't watch it.
This is pretty helpful thanks guys. Is there like four guardians though? Like I started it and they showed He Man, this green tiger monster, some wizard, and like a guy with a weird hat. Are they like powerful guardians like He Man?

The green tiger is his mount, not sure on the wizard or weird hat. But no they aren't guardians. They help he-man but it isn't like a power rangers thing.

it's a toy commercial, you're already thinking too hard about it

I'm pretty sure most episodes ended with He-Man saving the day while his pals made a token effort.

He-Man and Skeletor are an order of magnitude more powerful than anyone else in the franchise.

Itll explain everything. There are very few characters to keep tabs of in the new show, but if you want a quick recap

Good Guys
Prince Adam/He-Man: Protector of Eternia
Man-at-Arms: Usually depicted as the #2 good guy in most battles
Teela: Man-at-Arms daughter, and a warrior
Orko: A mage, mostly used for comic relief
Sorceress: She oversees Castle Grayskull and is powerful. Typically does not leave the castle.

Bad Guys
Skeletor: Main bad guy. Wants the power of Grayskull.
Evil-Lyn: One of Skeletors main underlings. Heavily leans in magic.
Beast Man: Another high ranking underling of Skeletor. Uses brute strength.

Also, Castle Grayskull is not the royal palace. It is just on its own, out in the middle of nowhere. When the bad guys attack it, the good guys have to leave what they are doing to go defend it. Not exactly the best tactical move on their part.

This has been pretty helpful thank you guys. I kinda got He Man and Skeletor but was curious about all the other characters so this helps thanks.
