Some people are just stupid and their refusal to actually come to terms with reality is doing both themselves and others serious harm.
Sure, we shouldn't shame and mock people for being fat, but we absolutely should make people aware of the dangers of being overweight and how much it impacts your chances of various health concerns. It is also a massive drain on the NHS (which is already at the brink of collapse) from actions people can fix themselves.

honestly what bugs me the most is the continuous harping on the usage of BMI due to the fact that it is 'flawed' as a way to measure individual health. It is especially stupid when they try to deflect by saying there is no causal connection, just a correlation (which, yeah that is all you can ever show with statistics, but there are plenty of plausible explanations for causal pathways between being fat and being sick)
And unless there has been a big demographic shift in ethnicity or age in those studies that goes uncontrolled for, BMI is perfectly valid for measuring population health risks. On top of that, there are studies linking things like waist-circumference to health problems which would actually be worse for anti-fatshaming advocates since it is much more explicitly about body type than just weight
