In the military yeah. "Camping" was mandatory.

Yes. I brought a book, my mp3 player, and my chem homework. I might as well stayed a home and enjoyed warm showers without all the bugs.

Whatever happened to standards? Whatever happened to bare minimums?

Yes. I don't enjoy it. I've always wondered how long it took past the invention of the house for people to go "Hey, why don't we voluntarily go sleep in bags under a piece of cloth again? It'll be fun!"

I faced it all and I stood tall- And did it my way.

I went on a road trip once and would park in a camping site and just put down the back seats and sleep in the car. That was way better than the hassle of a tent and I didn't have to worry about bugs or weather.

Wilderness primitive camping many times. Riverside campground camping several times a year.

Sorta, but not really. It was sleeping in a tent in my backyard and it wasn't even fun. It was hot and the bugs were annoying.

yeah i own a creeper/awesome (feedback depends on the area, people seem to love them out west, not so much in the east) campervan and use it to travel and camp often.

on my list of things to do though is a thru hike where i'd be hammock & tent camping. it's been a few years since i've done a traditional camp.
