In advertising, I think it's more reflective of real life than simply having two individuals of the same ethnic group each time. In entertainment media, I think it diversifies the cast and allows more opportunities. A person doesn't have to wait for an actor of the same ethnic background to be able to play the love interest.

And, yes, it brings a smile to my face knowing that some racist asshole is getting upset that a Coca-Cola commercial has an interracial couple.
