I stopped drinking back in 2011 because I was embarrassed being drunk infront of girls I met. I never wanted to seem altered. And would rather crash while sober then succeed while impaired.
I also HATED hangovers (combined with my sleep apnea, holy fuck) and I liked driving everywhere (winter in Canada sucks). I also saved tons of money. And most importantly, I think of some messed up childhood memories of fajily members drinking, and I guess I always disliked what alcohol could do to a person.
Anyone else not drink? I'm guessing we're the heavy minority. I work behind a bar and don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't drink (other than being a Muslim or being the DD that night). I do get tons of strange looks when I tell people I don't drink too. I guess my fashion sense is VERY out there and people can't compute that this crazy looking guy doesn't get fucked up.

I used to need alcohol to breathe, but now I only do it maybe once or twice a week.
I don't drink with any sort of regularity, because I don't like the taste or the sensation of getting drunk.
I'll do a couple of shots with someone if they're offering and its free. That doesn't happen very often. Last time was towards the beginning of the year, then about two or three years bef ore that.

Addictions run in my family, I had an uncle drink himself to death and my grandfather is on a similar path.

I've never drunk an alcoholic beverage, because:
1) It might screw with my antidepressant (Paxil),
2) I'm afraid of getting addicted to it the way I already am to caffeinated sodas,
3) I worry about getting a hangover with a severe headache, puking my guts out and no memory of what happened the past day, and
4) I (maybe irrationally) worry I'd get so loose I take my pants off and start waving my dick around at everybody.

I never wanted to drink or do drugs because my dad was a really bad drug user/alcoholic.

Reason I don't drink is simply because I have no interest in doing so. Nothing to do with religion or morals, that stuff just never appealed to me.

I have an addictive personality, so I tend to avoid things I know I could easily become addicted to. I know myself enough to not think "I'll just be responsible with this."

I drink but 95% of the time its beer. Way easier to monitor 4-5% abv compared to 40%-60% in liquor. I usually just drink enough to get a buzz, which I like. I hardly ever get full out drunk. I have German heritage, I have drinking bones in my freaking heritage. Friends Ill hang out with at bars question if I even drink because of how I act.

I don't drink because I have terrible dietary habits and can't do anything in moderation. If I combined drinking with my love of greasy food I wouldn't make it past age 40

alcohol makes you fat as hell and ages you quickly, also it doesn't help that a cocktail is like 10 buckazoids minimum here in the uk

I drink, but mostly just the very light stuff. The 5% Smirnoff Ice flavored beer(original lemon-lime and strawberry acai) twice a week. Occasionally if I'm at the bar or a party, I'll have a heavier drink, but still within limits so I'm not piss drunk.

Pretty much the same. I might grab one drink early to prove that I'm not being a prude but I've just never been much of an alcohol guy.

At this point in my life, I drink more beer than I ought, but that's going to taper soon due to life situation changes (i.e. I live across the street from a liquor store now and will live more than six miles away in a stricter state within the month). I swore off hard liquor late last year and will only entertain the occasional hard cocktail now (e.g. hot toddies around the holidays, etc.).
Red wine started making me instantly sick, within minutes, around the time I turned twenty-six, so that's right out. I prefer white wine anyhow, but am not wild about.
My reasons for wanting to quit are that it's a waste of money and time. I like the buzz it gives me, but I've gotten the point where I don't have any specific new giddiness with my drinking. I have less drive to drink to excess, less of a threshold for "excess" and enjoy being with the same people I spent my drinking years with whether I'm sloshed or not.

It's been about exactly a year since I've had a sip of alcohol, used to drink three to four beers almost every night. I don't miss it anymore, I feel better physically and emotionally and I'm saving money

i've drinken before and I will again, but i've never been drunk and extremely unlikely I ever will.

I'll have a beer or two a few nights a week, but compared to how I used to drink, I've practically stopped. Haven't actually been drunk in months.
I went from getting drunk 4+ nights a week to this. The main reason is that I got bored of it and decided I wanted to move back home to live with my (then ex) girlfriend. I found better ways to stay occupied, especially now that we have a daughter.

I'm not the "OMFG NO ALCOHOL AT ALL" but I don't really see the whole point. I've had a beer or two and even a shot or two. I don't really care for what alcohol does but it usually winds up as "I paid this much for this? Weaksauce".
