GTA4 is very underrated IMO.

if it had the car & shooting mechanics of GTAV I think it would be the better game of the two

GTA4 is my first and only GTA game. That should tell you how I felt about it.

Galaxy is fun at least.

yup.

If you have to change like 80% of a game's mechanics for it to be good, then isn't it not good. And even if you did, the missions would still be boring as hell and the story would be bad.

Did you like the main villain being some dude you talked to for like five minutes of screen time and then almost never showed up again despite Niko's absolute fury at the mention of his name

Or that the game set up this rivalry with this other dude who had a personal connection to Niko but then he only shows up for like three missions and is dealt with in the DLC

Or that the entire tone of the story clashes terribly with the fact that GTA is a game in which you can make a game of how many elderly people you can spray with a firehose

My problem with GTA4 was I felt like I had all this money and absolutely nothing worthwhile to spend it on.
And when the hourglass has run out, eternity asks you about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not.
