The GBA/PSP versions with the bonus dungeons.
I prefer 3 because it's simple with variety, a comfort game. 6 and 4 have the best stories, 5 is good all around. 1 is very simplistic but still fun. And they fixed the stat system with 2 which is nice.
Exceptions, FF6 is supreme on the SNES... all other ports, even the GBA one, mess something up.
The SNES version had a lot of bugs and mistranslations.
Those are minor issues compared to overall visual and audio fidelity and smoothness of play
FF1 is easy to play, because nostalgia carries a lot of the load for me.
Same reason I'd happily play DQ 1, 2, or 3, but lose interest in pretty much everything after that.
I'm playing one for the first time and enjoying it. Are two or three worth playing? I liked four through ten
I'm playing one for the first time and enjoying it. Are two or three worth playing? I liked four through tenIf you've played all the others then you might as well see what they're about. I haven't played 2 since the GBA remake came out in 2004 so I don't remember much but it has a sort of odd Zelda 2 sort of reputation with its weird leveling systems and stuff.
when I played on the DS
there's the problem - the 3D remake is disasterously slowI'd probably see a bit more in it as an adult than I did as a teenager but it made a strongly negative impression on me that wasn't entirely because of slow pace. Unless you mean they raised xp requirements or there were performance issues or something.
