What is the price of this can of Campbells soup?

And I'm like - I got a receipt right here, they're $2.39, but that's CND so maybe $1.99!

".79 cents"

Are you watching Bob Barker era? Because I find it hard to believe a can of soup is that cheap in California today.
The world may be going to Hell, but I am personally awash with convenience.

Then they have a game where you have to work out the price of a brand new car, and it's only 4 digits.
What the hell, when did GameFAQs clear my signature and quote?
Personally, Price is Right mostly makes me sad now just because I hate Drew Carey as host.

(Though to be fair, I haven't actually watched it for years - people say he's gotten better at it over time, but he was absolutely terrible at the start.)

But if you think 79 cents for soup is bad, I'm always more disturbed when you see a car that's worth $6000 that would probably be worth closer to $60,000 (comparatively) today.

Huh, I thought the show ended a few years back

A former work crew and I got to go on an episode, you wouldn't believe how many times they had to stop filming because of malfunctioning equipment and issues with contestants
even when it was current, i noticed that those prices still never accurately reflected what prices were

like they had people guessing the actual price of, say, a bottle of tums at like, $5.48

but the price is right price was like $3 and they got it wrong lmao

Because different regions have different prices, and they're mostly going off California prices.

And they're probably also using prices at *insert local store/dealership/etc. here* as opposed to places like Walmart

As far as I can tell they use the manufacturer suggested retail price for the west coast rather than a specific store.
Man, not me. I often find the old-timey prices in the classic episodes amusing.

Price is Right is probably the worst aging game show of all time.

in terms of pricing, ya

But the 60s/70s ascetic and everyone having a good time is timeless. Not enough people having good times.

I mean, what do we have for modern gameshows... there's the reality shows where everyone is grumpy for several months until there's one winner, and then there's stuff like Jeopardy/Who Wants to be a Millionaire where you aren't really vibing, you're trying to concentrate

Unpopular opinion but I never liked it. The entire show is just a barrage or advertisements, and the rules are beyond broken. Like imagine being a fan you whole life, you get picked to go up there, and some jagoff bids a dollar over you just because you picked second instead of third?
