I never thought to check on it, because the Niko D40 I used to have just used a regular SD card, and the Nikon d300 I now own came out a year later.

Now, I am not really familiar with CF cards. The manual lists the compatible oneshttps://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/6/66db769b.png

Now, I have no idea, but can I buy any CF card? I don't even really need more than 8 gigs storage, but I feel like actually finding any of these will cost an arm and a leg vs "off brand we still make CF card???" company from the modern day

A potentially cheaper option would be a CF to SD adapter, but again I don't know about compatibility.

I don't expect anybody to have specific familiarity with the Nikon D300, but maybe some general knowledge could apply

a 16gb cf card is less than 20

you can use any, it's just the interface that makes compact flash, uh, compact flash. the internals is just going to be regular flash memory

i would be surprised if you couldn't use higher than 8gb, typically those sizes are just what was the available sizes back then
if i wasn't important then why would you waste all your poison
I figured as much. I actually see this one

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-extreme-64gb-compactflash-cf-memory-card/2037002.p?skuId=2037002

might be available at a store in person. I may go get this one just so I can have it now and start using the camera today.

$48 nah
.
I bought that one from best buy because, while I know I complained about arms and legs earlier, I just wanted one now to have one so i could use the camera today.

64 gig does not work(it keeps saying it is full. Formatting the card doesnt work)....so what I am going to do is order one that I confirm works that isnt super expensive(such as seeing if the one in the amazon link works) and try this again.

This is what I get for being an impatient person.
i could see 64gb not working

unless it needs to be formatted a certain way, but if the machine itself is the one doing the formatting i wouldn't think it'd do it wrong
