Closest I've gotten to playing a game since 2021. I am heavily enjoying it.
Expect a writeup of why once I am done.
Do keep in mind that I am an AC "vet" I played all(?) of the AC3 trilogy back in the day and the game hasn't really provided any signficiant challenge thus far apart from a couple of encounters that took me ~1h each to get the patterns down on. I don't have the game open right now but I'm in whatever chapter that you do the C-rank Arena fights in and just had a choice of two missions where I chose the one to combat a really cool tank MT.

"You don't like games"
No, I don't like bad games (which are most games).
It's not about me.
One of my hobbies is of course, taking screenshots. I have thousands of screenshots over the years. I grabbed this one last night.

GameFAQs is just very bad at doing screenshots, especially 4k ones.

Nah, bell curve exists. Most games are mediocre/average, and of those, many are enjoyable.

You may enjoy only a small percentage of games, but you not enjoying swaths of games doesn't mean all of those games are "bad"

I had never played an AC game before I played 6. I loved it, I got the platinum.

I played almost the entire series in the two months leading up to 6's release (Gen 5 and the offshoots like Nine Breaker and Formula Front got cut for time/difficulty of emulation) and felt very vindicated. 6 rules and the old games are also excellent. You can really feel the Sekiro influence in 6 too.
I ended up finishing out the game last night. Overall I think it definitely deserves the praise and should have gotten a slot for Game of the Year over the Nintendo stuff (especially Mario Wonder, that game does not deserve any Game of the Year nomination) and Spiderman.

The only Souls games I have ever played are Demon Souls and Dark Souls. I absolutely despise Souls games.
AC6 is not a souls game, is not punishing, and is not even difficult.

Did you play any of the other nominees?

What?
Going by your own logic armored core is a Souls game since its developed by them. User tags are for smooth brains
That's alotta fish
Why do you consider it to not be a Soulslike?

Why do you consider it to not be a Soulslike?
Because it isn't. It's like calling monster hunter a Souls like which people do
That's alotta fish
That's not an answer. Calling MH a Soulslike is questionable more because MH is significantly older than because they don't have enough parallels to be considered similar. Combat-wise, MH and Souls games are definitely quite comparable, with the difference arising primarily in that MH is based on fighting bosses in a mission structure instead of focusing on exploration that's punctuated by bosses.

Because it's not? The game's structure is fundamentally different. AC is a mission-based game with a high degree of customization and AC6 specifically has very little punishment for death. One of the hallmarks of Souls games is that they have a punishing death system.
If memorizing encounter rotations were the hallmark of a Souls game then both Monster Hunter and Mega Man would be souls games.

Also one of the the things I frequently talk about when discussing why I like the games I do is the gameplay loop. AC6 has an incredibly tight gameplay loop. Mistakes are punished, but the punishment is only measured in minor time wastes and rapidly mixing things up is encouraged (one of the reasons you can customize your AC on the continue screen). Souls games are actually on the opposite end of the spectrum where the gameplay loop is incredibly loose and death frequently means backtracking through parts of the game that are boring to outright trivial.

The MH parallel is one that I have personal experience with. I originally bought the original Dark Souls because people online compared it to Monster Hunter. For reference, I had hundreds of hours in the PSP Monster Hunter games and was massively disappointed in that comparison as MH also has an incredibly tight gameplay loop (and it's only gotten tighter, but I don't like modern MH for different reasons).

I was talking about Sekiro, not AC6. I wouldn't expect anyone to call AC6 a soulslike.

As a fan of both AC and sekrio . 6 is a bit more like it, in the whole stagger gauge thing

also 2. Yes 2 bosses have the same patterns as a souls boss which once i recognized, it kinda made me feel like ugh. But its From so.. but other than that. AC6 is one of my fav AC games
"Welcome back, To the stage of history"
I heard it's really hard
the stagger gauge is just the heat gauge from the early games but not shit

the similarities between sekiro and the souls games are basically they are both difficult and take time to master. that's about where the similarities end. they have pretty different gameplay and combat mechanics. if sekiro was developed by another company people would not compare or lump it with the dark souls games
