even though most everyone is right wing here in my town, most of the gas stations started calling the cops on the people putting the stickers everywhere and charged a few with vandalism so they aren't around here anymore

Best case scenario: the people that put them up became educated on the forces that drive commodity prices and realized that blaming one person solely for the price of gasoline is perhaps not the most poignant statement.

Reality probably: the mid-terms didn't go their way, employees scraped them off, and no one is energized to make a statement by replacing them when there are no longer points to score.

So you didn't read your own link?

  • After Republicans won control of the House in the midterm elections, conservative lawmakers announced plans to investigate President Joe Biden and his family when the 118th Congress convenes Jan. 3.
Okay, so he's going to be investigated for human trafficking.

  • Although Republicans haven't started investigating, an Instagram post baselessly claimed Biden is guilty.
This is immaterial. The Instagram poster may have expressing their opinion about Biden's guilt.
The title of the article says "Instagram post falsely says Joe Biden found guilty of human trafficking".
No one has made that claim since the investigation hasn't started yet.

I don't disagree. However compared to the Steele dossier which is now discredited I'd say they have just as much reason as when Trump was investigated for colluding with Russia.

I'd say they have just as much reason as when Trump was investigated for colluding with Russia.

With the very key difference that there was ample reason to suspect guilt there, not just some random dude on Instagram saying there might be a problem. That suspicion did ultimately bear fruit in that it was found conclusively that Russia interfered with the election in ways that benefited Trump, just not that Trump had any direct hand in it (and even that wasn't a definitive conclusion of innocence, just recognition that there's no need to conclude guilt).

Nobody with half a brain ever thought any of this was a slam dunk. Obviously it was stupid to blame high gas prices on Biden ( especially given that the GOP voted unanimously against an anti-price gouging bill that would have cut down on the extent to which oil companies are screwing everyone over), and obviously it's equally stupid to blame prices going down on him. It's quite rare that the president can be so clearly blamed for something as complex as gas prices, and when they can, it's usually something really obvious (like invading Iraq).

The US was a net exporter of gas under Trump. Biden's anti-oil policies changed that. Given how vocal he has been in a key factor in gas prices I don't think it's so stupid to draw a connection.

Ah, my bad. I misunderstood. To correct that quote:

"there was ample reason to suspect guilt [in the matter of Russian election interference], not just the Republican-controlled house throwing every possible heinous charge they can think of against Biden in a blatant show of political theatrics while presenting zero actual evidence to support any of it.

Better?

https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/crude-oil-production

Production dipped in early 2020 for reasons that I certainly hope I don't have to explain to you, and have continued to fluctuate since then, but on average US oil production has been higher under Biden than Trump. Are there any anti-oil policies in particular you'd like to cite to help make the point you're trying to make?

Note also that domestic production does very little to affect domestic prices. Oil is a global market: If foreign buyers are willing to pay more, domestic producers will sell to them instead of to domestic buyers. That means foreign prices directly drive domestic prices. Domestic production does affect global supply (and therefore prices), but this notion so many people have of "more domestic production means we'll have cheaper gas than the rest of the world" is nothing more than baseless fantasy.

You don't have to speculate. If you suspect there might be some other factors in the bill that meant that Republicans voting against it wasn't simply a matter of voting along party lines for the sake of appeasing their favourite corporate masters, read the bill and cite them yourself. Don't draw conclusions on hunches when there's all the empirical evidence you could possibly need staring you in the face.
