Such a cool universe
Hail Hydra
Don't worry, most people ignore it when they play pathfinder.

*finds path after stumbling upon it*
That's mostly how I was with Forgotten Realms. Playing games like Baldur's Gate and Dark Alliance got me interested in the setting looooong before I ever gave a shit about the actual RPG.

Even now I barely care about D&D as a whole but I'm still moderately interested in the metaplot and lore. ...even if the metaplot has mostly sucked since 4e.

The lore/flavor of the world is a large part of what has always turned me off from Pathfinder (aside from the fact that I don't like 3e D&D). It's the main reason why I've never really bothered looking into it all that deeply, and why the Pathfinder WRPGs don't really interest me all that much.

And without the lore, there's literally nothing there that draws my interest when it feels like there are loads of much better mechanical systems out there already. If I want to run my own game in a unique homebrew universe, I'm probably never going to pick Pathfinder (or D&D) to run it with if I'm the one making the choice.

I think pathfinder does crunchy DnD better than any other edition. If you want more freeform, you go with 5e, if you want crunch, play pathfinder. I think it's a good balance of the two.
Yeah, but that's sort of the point. I kind of loathe crunch.

And to be honest, if all I wanted was a draconian and ridiculous system that has way too many rules and mechanics, there are better systems for that as well.

PO, pathfinder was never for you.
I know! Hence why it never appealed to me!

Please keep up!
