Tools are useful things. They allow you to build stuff and accomplish much more than you could without them.
They are used and tossed away until needed.
Sometimes you come out on top, sometimes on bottom. For everthing else use KY.
Theyre useful but theyre also something that exists only to be used by someone else

Thats what calling someone a tool means. That theyre just an empty shell spreading somebody elses message.
YOU control the numbers of leches. -Sal Vulcano
Apparently its either calling them a fool(being used by other people) or its a slur for male sexual organs.
It's dehumanizing. The implication when it's used as an insult is that you're less than a person.
And with that... pow! I'm gone!
I always understood 'tool' to be a drop in replacement for 'dildo'

I've always interpreted the insult to mean "someone who is easily used, fooled, or manipulated by others".

I'd call that person a fool.

as mentioned, tools do nothing by themselves. they provide ability to someone/something else. they're secondary.

that's the logical answer, but IIRC I don't think uses of it usually fit that description very well, which is why I also find it a confusing term.
