A 9 y/o white boy from Dallas, Texas SHOCKED the crowd when he gave an "impassioned" speech about how, he may look different, he has the same dreams Martin Luther King Jr did.

Wesley Trent Stoker was nervous when he got on stage at the 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr Orator Competition as the 4th grader WON first place for his 5 minute speech about the theme "What is your dream for today's world?"

He urged audience members to stand up for what they believe is right and to love their neighbors and said "I may not look like Dr King, but i believe like Dr King"

He repeated that multiple times over the next 5 minutes, each time pointing both of his pointer fingers in the air and then placing his right hand over his heart.

Wesley is a student at Harris C Wither's Elementary School and said he believed in a peaceful world and said "I wish that all of our differences would be celebrated, and what everyone felt included. I would like to see people treated equally, imprtant and admired for their deeds. I wish there were no more wars. My dream is that everyone lives in a safe environment, loving and not hating each other. I feel like sometimes people don't try very hard to befriend people whom are different from themselves, particularly those with different skin colour"

He made several references to race throughout and pointed out that he was the only participant who WASN'T a MINORITY!!

Wesley is the son of a minister, Andy Stroker at First United Methodist Church of Dallas and referred to the similarities of that with Dr King.

His dream is that people would stop jumping to conclusions that would lead to quick judgements of others and that adults could love each other like kids do..

Andy says "As a white man who grew up in El Paso, Texas, i've known for a lot of years what diversity looks like and how we can come together as a community. Hopefully, what's on the outside somehow falls away and we begin to see what we're truly in this together. We have people from all parts of the world living together as one and that is the most beautiful thing God has given us"

Yes. It doesn't bother me at all. In my area we have many different races. My next door neighbours are actually foreign too(not white) and I've no issue with them. Given a chance I'd definitely have some fun with their oldest daughter.
