Hav eyou seen one punch man yet?
i'm always going to say fullmetal alchemist, either one of them. not really into anime but I loved that show.
Gundam
Why not try Yosuga no Sora?
Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z
that probably has a ton of filler.

FMA: Brotherhood is hands down my favourite anime so that gets my vote.
I re-watched FMA brotherhood twice so far, feels like it's due for another re-watching soon tbh
I can't decide if I liked the original FMA or brotherhood, if you take away the movie that followed up on the original i'd say the original as IIRCedward died in the end, but the movie changed that, and ruined itand I just like endings like that once in awhile, its a nice change of pace from the way stories usually end.

Glad I didn't see that movie then.
the movie was good don't get me wrong, I just hated how it took away from that emotional moment. other than that only thing i'll bash the movie on is, ed doesn't have his alchemy for the majority of the movieinstead of dying he was transported to our earth, Germany WW2 era. which makes it super obvious his home country was heavily based on germany
edit:technically pre ww2, I think it was right as HItler was coming into power, and preparing the country for his plans
Outlaw Star. Cowboy Bebop is an acceptable substitute.
Voted for Brotherhood cause FMA is awesome!
Why would you wanna rewatch Clannad?
:(
Out of the list, I've only really watched Welcome to the NHK and I enjoyed it so... I guess that.
School Rumble - Something I always recommend. It's a RomCom rather than action as the title would suggest.
Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They?
Black Cat
Hm. FMA:B isn't as good as I remember. Maybe it's only these first few episodes, but still...

tastes can change I suppose. I don't like DBZ at all anymore. loved it as a teen now I can't help but see the plot as horribly written and just an excuse to have some good action scenes. and action alone no longer entertains me.

Gundam blood orphans
Excel Saga.
You should read Welcome to the NHK, because they toned it down for the anime since some aspects were too dark or inappropriate for TV.
Nah, the first few episodes aren't that good. I think it's because they already did that portion in the original series. So they probably just didn't want to repeat it a second time completely. That's why I think it's best to watch both series. But I think that mostly for someone that's new to FMA.
They toned down the show?! Holy... I wonder what they removed...

There's way too much Gundam stuff. I really don't want to get into that.

My problem with DBZ wasn't the fighting but how long it dragged on for. Plus, the fact I missed some episodes made it more palatable. The show kinda tanks when it gets into really long fights with Frieza basically being where I mentally checked out.
and why did the heroes if they thought any single one of them could beat him, actually go along with it?

They couldn't beat him collectively either. And group combat can just make it harder to attack at times, unless you're limiting it to 1-2 people attacking at with guys rotating in and out to give fighters a chance to recover while slowly wearing down the enemy.... granted, Cell doesn't really fatigue the way a normal fighter would so even that tactic might not help.

Its been a long time but I recall him believing Gohan could pull it off.
still my point being though, why would you ever play by the villains rules. you never play someone at their own game and reasonably expect to win. but then again Goku was never shown to be a brilliant man, so I suppose I can let it slide on that alone.
Your Lie in April. It's one of the few anime I'd even recommend to normies. Also, if you liked Toradora, then give Golden Time a watch as well, it's from the same person. Though, don't watch those two shows back to back.

Yeah, I've watched both of them multiple times. I will say, Your Lie in April was good, but I don't see why people thought it was soooo great.
Anyways, it looks like I couldn't make it through the entire FMA:B show before all the new seasons started, so I'm going to have to put the rest on hold for a bit. Probably not too long though, this fall lineup looks pretty boring.

Goku was the only one who thought Gohan capable (prior to the fight anyway). Everybody else seemed to assume Goku was going to win and, within the context of the show,Goku's loss was significant. However, Goku *wasn't* going all-out because he realized while training that Gohan's ability would surpass his. Had Gohan not been involved at all, it's possible that Goku could have went harder and potentially tapped into SS2
Cell didn't really place those rules for his advantage, though. He just thought it would make for more interesting sport.

still hes a villain any smart hero (which goku isn't which is why I ultimately do say fuck it, it is what it is) would think something was up. not the mention the fate of the world is at stake and your going to play a game to decide it? and try to play fairly? sorry when someone threatens the world you don't play fair, you play to win.

Given that the world was essentially hostage, they kinda *had* to play by his rules. Keep in mind thatFrieza blew up Namek as a last-ditch effort to kill Gokuand Cell *could* have done the same even if he ultimately lost. Also remember that Cell could likely have survived in space -- since he'd need *some* way to leave the planet -- so he could have just flown up and destroyed everything.
