I guess I was shocked that she never came back. I mean, people have "died" on the simpsons plenty, but they come back next episode. Although those are generally gags and not meant to be super serious but yeah.

Not so much she died but the fact it was a real set in stone death sure.

iirc the voice actor quit for some reason so the character had to go.

on that note fuck the woman who killed phil hartman. took not only hartman but also like 26 legendary characters with her.

shoulda been charged with 27 counts.

At the time I'd heard somebody was going to die, SNPP.com had already posted the titles of the season's remaining episodes, and this title was a dead giveaway.

I didn't know about the dispute, but previews at the time did give it away.

Can't believe this happened in 1999.

Maudes voice actor, though she returned a few years after. She was being paid 1-1,500 per episode(seems awfully low since she voices several people) and didnt like the constant commute from her home in denver to LA or where ever.

Phil Hartman was married to a psycho bitch who murdered him in his sleep. I dont know if any of his characters got even so much as acknowledgement they were dead since his death was sudden.
