This 18 y/o Football Kid is Dead after only ONE PUNCH from a former TEAMMATE!!!

18 y/o Jacob Arter, a high school senior at Central Community School who was less than one month from graduation is dead after he was punched ONCE by a former football teammate while attending a bonfire!!

He was attending a large rural clubhouse in Illinoise on Sunday morning at 130am when a former football teammate, a 17 y/o approached him and punched him

Jacob collapsed upon impact and became unresponsive..

Another party goer, Dakota Leroy drove him to a hospital where they gave him CPR at the back of his car..

Dakota said "I had a kid tell me that there was a kid messed up pretty bad on the ground, he was unconscious. So i ran over to him, tried to help him the best i could, tried to get everyone away from him to give him air and told people to get 2 or 3 bigger guys, put him in the back seat of my car, i told another kid to give him CPR on the way to hospital"

But Jacob died at 2:24am as the person who punched him was arrested and placed in juvie

He played football with Jacob before he lost his elibility due to poor grades and had to transfer to an alternative school.

Jacob was to graduate 20 days from now and planned to play football at Illinois College

Superintendent Kevin Meyer said "He was a good teammate and a bright young man just going through life. We send our sympathies and condolenses to the family".

The state attorney, John Hudspeth had appointed another prosecutor to the case as his family has a close relationship with the suspect's family and wanted to avoid conflict of interest..

Would you avoid punching someone knowing that one punch could kill them?

If he was truly all that vulnerable, he wouldn't be playing football. But sure, in general one punch from almost anybody *could* kill just about anybody.

Punched how? And for what reason? Friends punch each other sometimes just for fun. I had two friends that occasionally actually tried to stab each other just for shits and giggles (yes, they had issues, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they're both dead now, though it's been 20 years since I last heard from either of them).

Besides that, the kid dying after being punched once suggests there was an underlying medical condition that may or may not have been known. Similar to kids playing baseball getting hit in the chest by a pitch, and dying because their hearts stopped.

There are necessary details that are missing.

Not saying any reason besides self defense is a good reason, but context would definitely make this more clear. Was the deceased fooling around with the attackers girlfriend or sister? Did they have issues on the field, seeing as they both were team mates? Unfortunately we do not know.

That's sad and i feel bad for eveyone involved. I am 100% sure the dude did not mean to kill him. Sucks he will probably be considered a murderer now.

Its clear manslaughter, likely involuntary and thats probably what he is hes charged with. Not murder

Back of the head can be very dangerous. And I've heard of people dying from the impact of the ground.

Either way, hitting your head that hard on something, whether it's the ground or a fist, can do that.
