I say "decided you liked" because maybe you liked some music that wasn't those genres as a kid, but didn't really think about the genre.

I used to be one of those "only classic rock is good" dorks. Those people are pretty common on the internet, but I feel like seemingly everyone I knew in middle/high school loved pop punk


No other option because every middle/high schooler in existence prefers one of those five genres. If you say "other" you're lying

Country. I can't answer the poll as apparently i'm lying. I got into classic rock after country, I have no idea what ska or nu metal actually are, I dislike rap and have no feelings towards punk as a genre.

Admittedly, i'm not really that into music.

Chiptune, modern music that can incorporate them get a plus in my book. Not sure if 16-bit counts as a genre but they're included too since that's what I grew up with.

Voted Nu metal. I grown up listening to the radio that played mostly pop, rap and R&B however we did get the odd Nu Metal song from the likes of Linkin Park and other bands. I enjoyed many songs from those genres but it wasn't until I left school and went on a media course that I met a guy who happened to have a copy of The Subliminal Verses album by Slipknot. I know of Slipknot as they had the odd song that played on the radio and the goths back at school loved them(something I ironically thought was a bad thing).

I decided to borrow the album from the guy, loved it and expanded my horizons by listening to more Nu Metal bands/artists. I haven't looked back since and Slipknot are my favourite band and have been since the age of around 19.

This. Don't limit us to your narrow perspective. Even if you hadn't put orchestral or jazz as an option I would have been okay with it so long as you at least tried to fill out the ten poll options, but you stopped at five. That's just... what.

Classic rock is probably the first genre I identified as liking. But yeah; there was a big mash-up of current rock/pop with a tinge of country that I enjoyed before that.
