Military cover up and secrecy is at an all time high. No one wants to publish what really happens without repercussions. Aka.. They may not live long after the story breaks out.
I'd say that's not true.
A lot of culture changes have happened inside the military due to how hard it is to keep secrets anymore.
Hell, hazing is almost non-existant anymore because of the advent of the cell phone.
Not to say cover ups don't happen, but it's a lot easier for shit to come to light than ever before
