What was your strategy?

Nel+Corrin for dragon vein shenanigans and the occasional torrent freeze (she was practically useless otherwise)
Zelestia+Lyn to astra snipe wyverns and use doubles to stop the team from being EP'd into the ground
Madeline+Lucina because she frankly barely contributes and I figured she might as well chain attack. In retrospect she might have been better off with Ike because I don't remember bonded shield or her chain attacks ever mattering.
Gregory+Byleth to goddess dance bot, fortify back to max engage meter, and goddess dance more (plus magic sniping while engaged).
Mauvier+Chrom could annihilate with the Levin sword and rally buff when he had nothing better to do (basically never).
Veyle+Soren with hold out was MVP, I would send her solo into the waves of flier reinforcements while engaged and she could EP annihilate them all. When she was recharging her meter she would decoy to protect the squishies.
Pandreo+Celica was mostly a healbot but could style on fliers with Excalibur and chunk with Seraphim. I think Warp Ragnarok and Echo came in handy a few times. His S staff was useful to Nodus at the end of the map to get my units ready to kill.
Safir+Eirika had speedtaker. She longbowed wyverns and hammered armors and got to +10 SPD pretty fast. From then on she was a beast. Sieglinde carved through Rafal and everyone else. Runner-up MVP. Use Eirika.
Merrin+Edel was also amazing. He got most of the blue spots because he was burning through engage turns so fast. Raging Storm+falling star was a common turn. I did that T1 to refresh on a general and then snipe a wyvern before it could do anything. He also poisoned Rafal to help my team contribute.
Kagetsu+Tiki is a ball of stats that can survive basically anything and help others survive too. Alear usually had his revival stone. I parked him in chokepoints to stall enemy waves and then rescue staffed him. He had canter for positioning and dual assist.
Jean+Veronica would summon things and then be on contract duty until his engage ran out, then spam fortify to get back in engage. I got super lucky with summons on my winning run. Lyn when I needed her doubles to stall, and Eirika at the end to help me close the deal against Rafal.
Seadall got Micaiah. He mainly danced things but Micaiah was useful to multirescue allies out of danger. Somehow I never used great sacrifice. Too much fortify spam.
And then Alear with Roy and draconic hex. Hold out kept him alive (wyverns seemed to like attacking him) and sword power let him scratch Rafal (and debuff him). Binding Blade's range helped pretty frequently. Not a star but a solid contributor.

Now for general strategy...skip Fogato's island and run right to the center. This puts you ahead of the clock for a couple turns. You can have Zelestia clear the way of armors from safety with Thoron. Ideally, you beeline across the center and stall the horde of reinforcements at your heels with a combination of Kagetsu, Lyn doubles, and fire/ice from Nel. Then they all die. Kill Timerra as fast as possible and prepare for an epic brawl in the north.

It's probably smarter to keep going north and curve around to get to the upper part of the final area but I charged along the bottom right into Rafal's travel path and got hit for a bunch of damage. Everyone survived due to some lucky dodges but that's not reliable. Then you have a few turns to clear the center before Rafal flies there and you're finally able to lay the beatdown. The beatdown itself probably goes smoother if you don't try to rush it but I did and so it was a race against the clock I only won by summoning Eirika.

Royals you absolutely have to kill are Alcryst, Timerra, Celine, Alfred, and Diamant. Their skills are too powerful/annoying on Rafal. Hortensia and Ivy are useless on him and Fogato just has to die at his hands if you want to move fast enough.

In general, it's not worth prioritizing blocking the summons because positioning is so important. Let the summons appear and then die when the land crumbles.
