I have one of those instapot/air fryer deals that does a couple other things. I don't think it would make rotisserie style taste like fried chicken. Some of the recipes for fried chicken style coatings and batters that came in a book require freezing so it won't fall off.
I had a toaster oven with convection and a rotisserie on it. In the end I would say the airfryer gets better circulation and more even browning because of the insert made for that and you can foil the bottom or use parchment paper for other stuff.
Its not some miracle deep frying replacement but it does a pretty good job of what it does and works good as a toaster oven or regular oven substitute. Having a toaster oven before I wouldn't feel it was worth it to get a standalone one without the pressure cooking function just to crisp stuff. That said it does work just as good as a toaster oven and it has more modern setting and timing features so it has completely replaced it.
