Yeah, that's probably part of it. It doesn't tend to bother me but when I think about it, my favorite parts of Gundam overall have no mention of Newtype stuff. Well, expect Four's story.The newtype stuff doesn't bother me when it just makes the characters better pilots. Even Amuro holding back the asteroid in CCA wasn't too egregious. But when the characters go from skilled pilots to space wizards I lose interest.
