I am a little curious - how much warning was there about this ice storm and extreme cold? Was anyone trying to prepare the public for the potential damage?

Usually, meteorologists love to hype anything weather related as much as possible, so I would think there should have been some kind of warning. I am in the midwest where we have stuff like that on a regular basis, but anytime we have a storm or extreme cold, its the top news story. I would be a little surprised to find that warnings werent all over the place for cold and ice like this in Texas.

However, The aftermath of this storm seems comparable to a major hurricane that affected more than just the coast. So, how prepared were people in your area?
