My first motorcycle was a Rebel 250 but I started on scooters and had a 50cc in Miami for a while that built up close call awareness. Been daily riding a Yamaha MT-07 for years and it can be frustrating but fun. Got it used for like 4k. The cheap price was definitely enticing, less gas and not much but oil changes needed.
You can also have close calls falling in the shower or tripping on the sidewalk, spend your $ on things you want.
