a lot of wikipedia articles related to tv shows, video games and movies have some mention of an IGN list on them.
In 2010, IGN listed Dr. Robotnik 11th out of their "Top 100 Videogame Villains".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Eggman
Dragon Ball Z was listed as the 78th best animated show in IGN's "Top 100 Animated Series"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Z
[Mario] was voted 100th in IGN's Top 100 Villains for his appearance in Donkey Kong Junior, adding "This Mario is a total jerk, holding Donkey Kong Jr.'s dad hostage"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario
In 2010, IGN ranked Darth Vader 25th in the "Top 100 Videogames Villains". (this has its own line)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader
[Bowser] frequently appears in lists for greatest video game antagonists. IGN placed him at #2 out of 100

)
why is this a trend
