Is "defense dead" or have teams realized which shots are most efficient? It's easy to keep the score down against a team playing iso-ball to get midrange jumpers.
This is it. Defense still exists; teams just shoot a lot more threes.
Also the shot clock has been shortened when you get an offensive rebound, so that also speeds the game up.
