I don't think this is exactly what I'm looking for, but it feels close. It's definitely interesting.
The fact that there are so many disagreements about whether John the baptist was the same person who wrote the gospel of John, who also may not have been the same person who actually followed Jesus, and so on makes it really hard to find the exact verse I'm looking for.
John the Baptist wad Jesus cousin and he went to jail and got beheaded before Jesus final year.
John the apostle lived many years and was exiled to Patmos where he wrote Revelation. Infact I think he outlived all the other apostles as the other got killed in various ways.
