It's also in Utah. As someone who lived there for 11 years, it is in no way surprising that this happened. It has nothing to do with today's PC culture, and everything to do with church views that are spread not only at church and home, but they have the option of basically bible study as a credited class in public high schools. It. Is. Everywhere. Oh, and they don't liek teh gheyz.
Utah will be one of the last bastions of ignorance due to religious texts that give them the armor to be bigots.
