Boxing is probably easier and more available to get into, especially if you get real into it and are looking for sparring partners and whatnot.
I feel like learning boxing first, and moving to kickboxing if you like it enough would be what I'd do.
my gym is primarily a kickboxing gym but also has boxing
its not like a side thing taught by people who dont know what theyre talking about, but of the 5 instructors/owners, 1 is a boxer, 1 is a bjj fighter and 3 are kickboxers
