People who say it's awful never gave this place a chance.
Yes, traffic is a bit much, and the housing/apartment market is super expensive, but there are many positives, such as the state is a giant melting pot and you can pretty much find whatever food you want with ease. Honestly people talk up NYC how it's a mecca for food, but NJ has it beat.
Just don't go to Seaside Heights or Point Pleasant there are much better beaches than those two.
