Yeah just did a few arena fights and by the third was struggling.

That's the point where I start stacking landmines at the very start for them to hit/jacking myself up on every stim possible.

Ive played the game quite a few times but I guess I dont have the brain to really grasp it because it seems like every time I play it just gets to a point where when Im fighting an enemy, I get to just sit there and watch as my character just gets miss time after time after time after time. Its especially frustrating in the Taris dueling ring.

The big thing is since it's semi-based off an earlier D&D system, if certain stats aren't high enough or you have the wrong perks for what you're trying to do, it can make certain things either really difficult or near-impossible. One of the things that had gotten me my first time through (IIRC; it's been awhile) was pumping strength up cause of my vibroblade. Imagine my sadness upon recruiting Bastilla and seeing lightsabers use dexterity.

Another thing to note is like I mentioned in my other reply, setting traps and boosting your stats with stims can definitely help tilt the odds in your favor. Status-inducing things can cause BIG upsets in combat as well. For example, not only does Force Whirlwind cause damage to your enemies, it also immobilizes them: preventing them from hitting you and making it so you can't miss hitting them, either.
