Interesting list, Ive seen most of these and some of my favorites are on there. Only one movie (The Ascent) directed by a woman is obviously an issue. I love The Red Shoes, but seeing it at the top makes me curious about your methodology since you dont usually see it so high on these lists.
Misc. things:
- 4 Hitchcock in the top 20 is a lot
- no Godard
- only one Ozu
- no Rashomon
- 3 Tarantino in a top 100 is pushing it
- 4 Powell and Pressburger films makes me think you used the BFI top 100 British films as a reference (nothing wrong with that. I like their movies, its just unusual seeing them featured so prominently)
- no John Ford
- only one Buuel
- only one Truffaut
- happy to see a couple documentaries in there
- no animation
- The Night of the Hunter is my top movie, so good to see it so high
- happy with Do the Right Thing being so high too. I think its star is rising and it should naturally climb its way up top film lists
- Bergman topping out at 60 is odd
Overall, fine list and Id like to know more about its creation if youre willing to share (PM me?)
