Tbh very few FF games have sold way more than a few million. So Square-Enix didn't "ruin" the franchise, it just never did amazingly except for a select few titles like FFVII, FFX, FFXIV, and FFXV.

Being exclusive to PS1 (I know some came out on PC too, but lets not pretend that those sales were significant at all) didn't stop the earlier games from selling well. And Sony keeps telling us how the PS5 is the fastest selling console ever. So what's stopping FF16 from selling that much?

Square literally chose to make this exclusive lol, it's not like Sony forced them. So why would you give them a pass for it? Either way, FF16 has sold about half of what FF15 sold on the PS4
Compare it to whatever you want, FF16 sold like shit. There's a reason Square haven't updated the sales numbers since the game's launch window, and probably won't do it until people double dip for the Steam release
