Being told about the hero's final stand and the death of the four guardians isn't quite the same as living through it. Zelda games have a pretty long history of alternating between different worlds/timelines and I think BotW could have been amazing if they had done something like that. Even if they had to shrink the world by about half, it would have been worth it.
I'm just so tired of mindless beast ganon. When they make him able to plot and talk and stuff, he's such a badass. They haven't had him be an actual character since....hm....Twilight Princess?! That can't be right, can it??
