I used to say I was a fan of JRPG's, but then I realized that in the past 10 years, I've only hooked onto Xenoblade and Xenoblade 2.

This is coming from a guy who tried Trails too.

Xenoblade hooked me pretty quick on three points - Instantly, the soundtrack pulls you in. The characters and voice acting keep you going, and once you set off on your journey, that first time stepping into Bionis Leg (the place the Smash stage is designed after), the sheer scope of it locks you into playing the game.

While the side quests aren't anything too special, I was willing to do them all to keep playing the game. It's the kind of game that really demands to be played and explored.

Didn't play X.

Xenoblade 2 was... you have to accept that it turns the anime factor up to 11. I know that can be tough for some people, but damn, it is SO fucking anime. That being said, I prefer its soundtracks to Xenoblade 1. And I thought Xenoblade 1 had the best soundtrack in gaming in years.

It's been hard for me to get into JRPG's in the past decade or so, but both of these games pulled me in to completion. Best soundtracks.
