My family and I have an old wok that we still use on a regular basis. We used to have a wok ring for it, but the ring broke years ago. I have started wanting to get a new ring for the wok, but I have no idea how to choose one. I have been doing some research and from what I have read, ideally the ring should be smaller that the wok by about four inches.

That is where my questions arise. How do I measure the wok? And by extension, which side of the ring is the side that should be smaller by four inches, the larger diameter end or the smaller diameter one?

Also what would the recommended material be? We primarily use the wok on a standalone propane fueled burner, but would also like to use it on our stove top which is a glass stove top.
