I take it you never tried it then, because I have. The 7777 trick only takes out half of their health before the attack finally stops with the 64th hit. Another 65 hits would have eliminated Emerald.
Well aware it doesn't totally kill either weapon. From what I remember they have a millions hp. It was easy way to bring them way down.
