I applied to work in a different school district once I started feeling jaded and burnt out. It rekindled my desire to become a better educator, and it sharpened my skills. The new environment, new students, and new colleagues gave new life to my career. It also helped that the district paid $10k more per year than my previous one.\ I live a comfortable life in the San Francisco Bay Area on a comfortable salary.
What's next for me? Maybe admin, who knows. Of course, if you feel you're absolutely done with teaching then do what's best for you. Just know that a district change might do something good for you, and if you decide to leave teaching for good then it's kind of hard to come back.
