You should save that energy for the people who are going to get others killed.

Do you know why that's just vapid, irresponsible hyperbole? Because you aren't doing the legwork that someone who really believes this should be doing. Agitating people, insulting them and holier-than-thouing isn't something you do in the face of an armed robber holding up you and your family because you are concerned people will be injured and die. Why the heck is it appropriate here?

There is a really bad situation on our hands: Something is out there that may be very dangerous and we don't know a lot about it and a lot of things are hard to prove. That means disparate groups of people are going to draw different conclusions. We can't even agree on whether or not eggs or healthy or whether organic food actually makes a difference and we've had decades of empirical experience with those things.

You're making the grave and woefully naive mistake of expecting the severity of the charge to carry the argument for you. That's not how it works. You still have to make a believable case.

I don't think any of them are evil, like I said, they are either ignorant or callous.

Mincing words. Saying someone is callously, knowingly acting in a way that will kill others is calling them evil. You have to roll with what you say. Can't have it both ways.

That doesn't mean evil and thinking someone is doing a bad thing doesn't mean you think they're some type of malevolent force.

Dude, that's exactly what your charge is. Saying people are consciously ignoring that they are going to get others killed (which is super silly nebulous talk: people have been risking contracting potentially fatal viruses through social interaction for centuries. Elderly people have been dying from contagious diseases as far back as humans know. The argument has to get better than that) is a pretty serious charge of evil. It sounds like you don't want the responsibility that comes with that which is what I'm talking about when I say you add to the problem, not help it.

I'd much prefer they followed the same directions we all had access to. It doesn't feel good to see other people acting this way or to think about them negatively. I'd much much prefer to see humanity come together to protect each other. You're attempting to psychoanalyze me based on one post on Gamefaqs and you're missing the mark.

I have no fear of missing the mark. Our interaction has been very limited and I can always adjust my thinking based on additional things you say or clarifications you make. I think the major mark you and others miss is how much of a responsibility it is to try to get people to come together to protect each other. Not all of these people are as thoughtless as you think. Think of all the times terrible evils have happened for the sake of the alleged safety of humanity. And many people were sure in those cases that those things were totally what was needed. Those vulnerabilities need to be felt when people are approached about this pandemic otherwise it starts to sound like vapid finger-wagging and power-grabbing.

If you think I'm misunderstanding you due to the limited nature of the forum I'm more than happy to open up a discord chat.
