It costs more to kill a prisoner than it does to keep them alive to serve their sentences until death.

Not with a swift bullet to the head

What about people like this who if their punishment after conviction was "a swift bullet to the head" would've been wrongfully executed? Never mind those who even with the current system have been wrongfully executed or on a questionable conviction.

Wrongful convictions are something that will always happen, we're human, we make mistakes. At least someone wrongfully convicted and put in prison has a chance to get out, maybe get some money to try to live the life they have left well after the miscarriage of justice, but if they just took you out back and and shot your ass there's no making up for that mistake...
And you're also not realizing that the actual trial itself is significantly longer and more expensive when you pursue the death penalty. It's not the cost of the injection that makes it expensive, not even just the years on death row before execution. It's the added difficulty of getting them they death penalty in the first place and allowing them their legally owed appeals.

I actually agree that to an extent there should be a fast tracked death penalty, but only in extreme circumstances where there's no mistaking it, like someone going and shooting up a school, being seen by countless people, probably on security cameras, probably doesn't even deny doing it, there's no reason to attempt to rehabilitate them, there's no reason to spend years on there trial, just get it over with, they've proven themselves to be of no use to society.
But most cases aren't as black and white as things like that. Think of how many innocent people would be falsely executed if we followed some mentality of just take them all out back and shoot them like a rabid dog.

Look, you cant be perfect. If killing a thousand murderers at one tenth of the cost means killing one innocent, then we should consider it.

Yeah, who cares about saving lives? Killing innocents so we can get vengeance on the guilty will totally unkill the victims of the guilty.

The point is that the guilty do not deserve to live. They dont deserve to be rehabilitated. They deserve to be punished for their crimes. In the vast majority of cases (99%), there is not a mistake.
Say that God Himself confirmed that the person was guilty, should you be ok with it then?
