I've had constant tinnitus for almost two years. When I was reading up on it trying to find a reason why, everything I read pointed to not having proper ear protection during concerts, construction, etc.
Then after talking to some of my friends about it, I realized it's a lot more common than I would have thought. Multiple of my friends have just had it start out of nowhere with no real clear tie to any cause.
The tinnitus annoyed the hell out of me for 6+ months, but now I've mostly gotten used to it. Still hate it, though. I've always been hard of hearing but the volume of the ringing is so loud it impairs my hearing even more. Listening to cricket sounds helped me sleep in the earlier days.
I went to three different doctors and they all pretty much shrugged their shoulders at me and said there was nothing they could do.
