Will is a great emotional actor and he already showed that talent very early in Fresh Prince (the father scene). He also displayed great emotional range in Pursuit of Happyness. This was an easy act for him at the Oscars.
Later on at the afterparty he was dancing and rappin his Summertime hit as if nothing had happened at the Oscars.
