I havent been so wholly hyperfixated on something the way I am with this movie in a LONG time. one of my coworkers mentioned on Teams that he loved the movie too and hes seen it three times. Watched this last night. Its very good! Great animation, music, and characters. There are story issues, especially around the level of humanity of the demons. I dont think I liked it as much as the two Spider-Verse movies or The Mitchells vs the Machines, but its still easily one of the better animated films of recent years. She usually falls asleep during movies and can be a hater but she was engaged by the first song and was bouncing along by the time Soda Pop came on. Finally watched this. It was pretty good! Very strong visuals. I have to say I'm a little baffled at HOW big it's blowing up. It was very solid but I can't say there was anything that would call for the amount of praise I've been seeing it get (while somehow managing to avoid all spoilers). It's filling a void. There isn't a lot of action-adventure animated movies with female protagonists. When you combine that with the banger music, really good animation, and likable characters with clearly-defined personalities, I can see why it's striking a chord especially with younger female audiences. Yeah it's definitely saying a lot that I enjoyed it as much as I did, especially since the music is not my vibe at all and that seems to be a big part of the hype after reading the topic lol (legitimately swear to God I am just now realizing I have forgotten every single song less than half an hour after finishing). I can't say anything in the movie was bad other than maybe the Jinu stuff getting wrapped up too fast. I don't agree that the Celine stuff was bad, felt like her getting no resolution was the correct call, she's a very misguided woman! Zoey is the best character.
