Not quite. It does share a few aspects, but not enough to make it a souls like. Enemies aren't that hard on normal difficulty, you have tons of ways to heal, and you can animation cancel.

You can't animation cancel but you can get speed++ items that shorten the animation and sometimes the frame rate can't keep up with the game's internal clock. And normal enemies aren't hard in any souls like either. They're all basically fodder until you get to the boss.

Idk if it would irritate people but every game should have a single player mode. Not every game needs multiplayer or online mode.

Like i was a oddball that liked the shadowrun fps game. What really brought it down for me was no single player campaign.

Conversely when I see a single player game with a tacked on multiplayer I see it as time and resources that coulda been spent making the single player side better. I know you could say the same about multiplayer with a single player campaign but that campaign serves as a more entertaining way to teach players the basics rather than some boring tutorial mode.

Yeah when ever people botched final fantasy 15 was easy I was like....really? Most final fantasies are easy. Beat 7 only using physical attacks summons and limit breaks.

9 first time never got a game over. 8 I almost and could have (forgot I head a stash of hero drinks) beat without really using the junction system. Literally got ultimecia to her speech in her final phase. Hero drink and I woulda won.

This is true.

There is certain rpgs I played when I was a kid like shining force 2 where I thought certain bosses like the kraken, the one golem dude, and oh muh gawd the chess board was some of the hardest gaming I experienced, but this was because I was just a young n' dumb kid doing young n' dumb kid things like letting one character (mainly npc peter) hog all the exp, benched characters who were not instantly good (used to just chuck slade on the bench and didn't even realize he promotes to ninja and quickly becomes pretty damn good. Kiwi never stood a chance, lol), and in rpgs with escape systems almost always try to run away thus leaving me underleved and with barely any money. (I used to think breath of fire 2 was like stupid hard and that the town zozo in final fantasy 6(3) was cheap, but I was just stupid underpowered and didn't know any better lol).

Basically with most of these old rpgs because most players played these when they were really young and with no experience with the rpg genre nostalgia would tell them "yeah, these were rough" when in truth if one was just a little bit older and hopefully with a little bit more common sense the majority of these really is actually easy. They may annoy you with a super high encounter rate like with snes breath of fire 2, but they really are easy.

Not going to lie though I was a bit older when I played through PS1 lunar the silver star story and I do think most spots in that game is legit rough, lol.

Usually FF games at least have decent superbosses. But other than that, they're usually pretty easy, yeah. FF4 Advance was a decent balance though.

And yeah, a couple of the bosses in Lunar took several tries. In general, the strategy with that one was save all (and I do mean ALL) your MP and items for the bosses and just puke them all out at once in a wave of concentrated destruction, lol.

Skyrim may be light on role-playing by Elder Scrolls standards, but it still involves more role playing than 90% of RPGs.

The quality drop off in the 2nd half of Castlevania SotN is big, and it taints the game by a sizeable amount.

RPGs in general are overrated

Pc players begging for console ports has hurt pc gaming, i wanna be using a kbm on PC, strategy games, city builders, lean into what made pc gaming special

Dark souls is objectively hard
